Stardew Valley: Clint

You may have noticed that Stardew Valley isn’t just about farming. There are many additional quests, and also many opportunities to find friends. Some villagers are available to marry, others will send you interesting recipes, or trigger unique quests.

In this article, we are going to talk about Clint. He lives in Pelican Town and owns the Blacksmith. However, he seems to be not really happy about his job. He would rather work outdoors, but his father was a blacksmith, so he just continued a family tradition.

To become friends with Clint, Stardew Valley suggests you giving him right gifts, and we are going to help you with it further. Now let’s take a look at his schedule.

Clint’s Schedule

Usually, Clint works behind the counter from 9:00 AM. He leaves Blacksmith at 7:00 PM and then goes to the Saloon. At 1:00 AM, he returns back home.

When the Community Center is restored, on Fridays, Clint is in the Boiler Room from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. At 8:00 PM he arrives at the Stardrop Saloon and sits there until 12:00 AM.

On Winter 16^th, Clint visits the Clinic at 11:40 AM, and then goes to the Saloon at 4:10 PM.

When the Community Center is restored, you cannot buy anything, nor upgrade tools in his Blacksmith.

As you may have noticed, Clint visits the Saloon quite often. The reason is that he has a crush on Emily, though he’s too shy to tell her about it. You can find evidence in his bedroom. It’s a romantic letter to Emily, where Clint admits that he never had the courage to tell her about his feelings.

We suggest giving Clint two gifts every week. It always increases friendship with any villager. Don’t forget to give him an additional present on his birthday, which is Winter 26^th. Birthday gifts have 8 times increased impact on your relations, so choose carefully, and we will help you with this!

You’ll impress Clint your best if you give him anything from the universal loves category. He also would love such Stardew Valley gifts as Topaz, Geode, Amethyst, Fiddlehead Risotto, Aquamarine, Ruby, Gold Bar, Emerald, Jade, Artichoke Dip, and Iridium Bar.

Clint likes Iron Bar and Copper Bar, and is absolutely neutral to Hazelnut, Common Mushroom, Gold Ore, Chanterelle, Dandelion, Refined Quartz, Winter Root, Daffodil, Iridium Ore, Purple Mushroom, Snow Yam, Leek, Coal, and Morel.

Don’t give Clint Wild Horseradish, Salmonberry, or Quartz, he certainly doesn’t like these things.

Finally, the worst gift for Clint would be Holly, as well as other universal Hates.

Quests

As we mentioned above, some villagers have interesting quests for you. Clint is one of such villagers. First of all, when you find your first piece of Copper Ore, Clint will visit you, and you’ll get blueprints for a Furnace.

On Winter 6^th, you’ll receive a letter where Clint asks you to give Emily an Amethyst. Since Clint is too shy about his sympathy, you have to tell her that it’s from him. You’ll help Clint, and he will reward you with +1 friendship heart.

On Winter 17^th, Clint will ask you to bring him an Iron Bar. You’ll get another friendship heart, and 500 gold.

We also suggest checking the “Help Wanted” board near the General Store. Clint may randomly request coal or ore. You may also see requests from other villagers there. Take into account that if you bring him an item that you found before you’ve seen a quest, these items won’t complete it. However, you can cheat a little: just place items in a chest, and then pick them one-by-one with right click. Note that, starting from version PC v1.11, you cannot cheat by grabbing items from inventory, dropping them, and then picking them up again.

Sometimes Clint may ask you to kill some monsters in the mines. Your rewards for killing monsters may vary depending on their types. Each item from the “Help Wanted” board is rewarded with three times more gold than it costs by default, plus 150 friendship points.

Heart Events

Stardew Valley game allows you to unlock unique scenes each time you get a certain amount of hearts in your friendship scale. Once you got three hearts with Clint, visit the Stardrop Saloon on Monday, from 7 PM to 11 PM. He will ask you for advice about women. Tell him that he can impress women by acting crazy, or using his strength and charm. Such answers will give you +25 friendship points. You can also suggest treating women the same way he treats men, and earn +50 friendship points. Another three-heart event is when you receive a letter with a recipe for an Algae Soup.

The six-heart event triggers in the Cindercap Forest from 9 AM to 6:30 PM. It requires you to walk on foot (no horses), and a three-heart event triggered before. This scene also won’t trigger if you’re married to Emily, or have activated either the ten-heart or eight-heart event with her. You will see Clint watching her from the bushes, being afraid to approach and talk to her. Threaten Clint with never buying anything in his Blacksmith or upgrading tools. Tell him to talk to her now, and he will agree. As a result, Emily accepts his invitation to the Grampleton Carnival.
