Stardew Valley: Dwarf
A fun fact about Stardew Valley is that you can become friends not only with human beings, but also with fantastical creatures. For example, there is Dwarf. He’s one of the dwarves, and probably, the last one. You may have heard of his people in case you’re friends with Krobus. Krobus and other Shadow People were at war with the dwarves a million years ago, so there is still a considerable tension between them. Just like Krobus, Dwarf lives in the Mines.
You won’t be able to enter the Mines until you upgrade to a steel pickaxe. After that, you can break the rock that blocks the entrance. You can also use a Cherry Bomb. At the beginning, Dwarf will speak Dwarvish, so you won’t understand a word. To have a conversation, you have to get four Dwarvish Scrolls. Bring them to the Museum, and Gunter will reward you with a translation guide. This guide allows you to understand Dwarf, and so buy items in his shop.
Unlike other inhabitants of Stardew Valley, Dwarf never changes his location. You can find him east of the entrance anytime you need his help. In his shop, you can buy such items as Oil of Garlic, Bomb, Miner’s Treat, Mega Bomb, Life Elixir, and Cherry Bomb, as well as a recipe for a Weathered Floor, and one of the collectible Rarecrows.
Stardew Valley Gift Guide: Dwarf Edition
Give Dwarf two gifts every week, and you will become friends for sure. His birthday is Summer 22nd, so don’t forget to give him a birthday gift. It will cause eight times increased effect, so choose carefully! To help you with it, we decided to write a list of good and bad Dwarf gifts.
Dwarf would be really excited to receive Jade, Amethyst, Topaz, Omni Geode, Aquamarine, Ruby, and Emerald. He would like you to give him all the Dwarvish stuff, such as Dwarf Scrolls, Dwarf Gadget, and Dwarvish Helm, as well as Quartz.
Dwarf is neutral to Void Essence and Solar Essence. However, there is a fun bug in Stardew Valley: Dwarf never shows neutral dialogues. In case he’s neutral to your gift, you will see the dislike response, even though such a gift will still give you +20 friendship points.
We suggest you not giving Dwarf such items as Daffodil, Winter Root, Common Mushroom, Morel, Holly, Dandelion, Snow Yam, Chanterelle, Purple Mushroom, Hazelnut, Salmonberry, Leek, and Wild Horseradish, as well as Milk and Eggs of any kind.
You may also hear from Dwarf that he loves food made of Cave Carrots, but he doesn’t like Cave Carrots as a gift though.
Once you’ve got 50 points of friendship with Dwarf, you unlock a special event. It triggers when you enter the Sewers. You will see Dwarf yelling on Krobus because the Shadow People killed his family. Krobus replies that his people used violence only to protect themselves from the dwarves. You may try to stop them from fighting, but only the Wizard will calm them down, using a Sea of Promise spell. Both Krobus and Dwarf will apologize and promise to forget about the war that happened a million years ago.
