Why is mobile phone gaming still so popular today?
The gaming world is an incredibly detailed one, with an abundance of different devices to play on alongside a whole host of games to play. We’ve never seen anything like it.
Gaming not only helps provide the skills that are needed in daily life, but it also gives us some much-needed entertainment and an all-round release from our occasionally dull routines. The abundance of games available these days is frankly insane, too. Our one true love is Stardew Valley, but there are shedloads of creations out there with dedicated, loyal communities behind them. This applies to mobile phone games too, which can seem fairly odd given the more sophisticated devices we have available to us these days.
With that in mind, why is mobile phone gaming so popular today? How can it compete with the consoles on offer? Here are a few reasons as to why.
Portable, on the go gaming
A key factor behind the surge in mobile phone gaming’s popularity has to be because of its portability and the fact that you can play a wide variety of games while on the move, be it on the train to work or waiting for a haircut. Everyone has a mobile phone these days, so delving into the Goblins cave slot or firing up FIFA 20 for a few minutes is no hassle at all. In fact, all it takes is the touch of a button or two, and you can game away with ease. On top of this, downloading games is easy and takes a matter of seconds. Compare this to gaming on one of the major consoles, and it can be a painstaking process trying to find the perfect game, alongside having the time to actually settle down and play it for a few hours. Mobile gaming is convenient, and that goes a long way in today’s world.
Fun and easy games
Mobile phone games are also incredibly fun and usually fairly straightforward to grasp. From a youngster on the bus to school to an elderly grandmother heading to bingo on the train, everyone is gaming these days. There is, quite literally, a game for everyone. Creations like Pokemon Go have proven to be a huge success with the younger generation in recent years, alongside puzzle and brain teaser releases for the older members of society. Everyone is gaming, and that is largely down to the emergence of mobile phones.
Cheap, occasionally free games
Many releases are free or incredibly cheap to download, which is a huge benefit to mobile phone games developers. Players can access a wide variety of creations, try them out, and wait until they find the perfect game for them, all without spending a penny. Some games have additional costs as you progress further, but on the whole, games are a lot cheaper than their console counterparts. You can play a lot of mobile phone games for the cost of one console game, that’s for sure.
Console-quality titles
Thanks to our technologically advanced world, our mobile phone devices are better than ever before. What this essentially means for us, as gamers, is that our mobile phone games are more advanced too. Developers are able to release their console and mobile creations simultaneously, without the community batting an eyelid. It’s the norm these days. There is absolutely no way our old Nokia phones which resembled a brick would be able to house a creation like Stardew Valley, that much is obvious. Now, we’re seeing much-loved games like PUBG and Mario Kart make their way onto our miniature handheld devices. Get used to it, too.
