Stardew Valley Clay: how to get it?
Stardew Valley is a game that represents country life with all its specific features. You have many kinds of activity to choose from. You can fish, search for some interesting items, plant trees or vegetables, breed animals, and so on. Another interesting feature of Stardew Valley game is that you can craft your own items, using certain resources, and basic items. There is a wide range of items available for crafting. Some of them just serve as interior objects or souvenirs, others are quite useful tools. Latter ones can be used in your everyday routine, in order to increase your productivity, and do some things faster. You can always upgrade your tools, and save your time and effort doing hard job.
As we mentioned above, to create your own items you have to get certain resources. For example, some items require Wood, or Iron. One of the most common resources is Clay. Using Clay, you can make a Quality Retaining Soil, or build a Silo. Another interesting item is Keg, which can turn almost any types of vegetables or fruits into a beverage. To make a Keg, you also need Stardew Valley Clay, as well as 30 pieces of Wood, one Copper Bar, and one Iron Bar.
Most players who breed animals face the need to build a Silo. It’s a building which helps turn grass into hay. Every time you cut grass, you have a 50% chance to add this grass to a Silo automatically. Each Silo may contain up to 240 pieces of hay, and to build it, you need to find 10 pieces of Clay.
One of the most common questions among beginners is “Where can I get Clay?” This task is not easy indeed, but Stardew Valley offers you several methods to get this useful resource. Anyway, prepare to work hard, because you will need to work with a hoe, digging up dirt and sand. You can till almost everywhere, starting from your farm, and moving towards the Beach. Moreover, we suggest you to take exactly this direction, since the Beach is known as the best location to look for Clay. Most players note that digging the sand on the Beach is the easiest way to get Clay. However, Sand, just like dirt, gives you 1 piece of Clay.
If you are looking for more Clay, and want to find richer deposits, we suggest you to go to Artifact Spots. These spots are best for digging with a hoe, and you can easily recognize such spots by worms moving around. Actually, most gamers call these places “worms”, but if we look in the game code, we will find the Artifact Spot name. Obviously, worms mean that dirt here is soft and easy to dig in. Here you can find from 1 to 3 pieces of Clay. Along with it, such spots often hide other interesting items, such as Artifacts, Mixed Seeds, or Lost Books. You have more chances to find Artifact Spots in winter. Moreover, during this season these spots may also contain Winter Roots, or Snow Yams.
In order to get more Clay, Stardew Valley offers you to search for specific squares, which contain Clay. Each time you find a square that contains Clay, just move upper and dig another square. You have to dig further, every next square. Don’t stop and dig as long as you can, your effort will surely bear fruit.
Another way to get this useful source is to open Geodes. This method usually gives you one piece of Clay. Geodes are specific deposits in the Mines. You can find them breaking rocks. Talking about Geodes, we must mention that they also contain different minerals. All you need is just process them, it will take 25 gold.
Many gamers ask where to buy Clay, looking for fast and easy way to get it. Well, we can say with certainty, that the best way to get Clay is just to search for “worms”. Artifact Spots hide a lot of useful items, and even if you don’t dig such a spot today, it always has a chance to respawn next day, exactly in the same place. However, we know another place where you can get Clay with literally no effort. Every year, on Winter 25th, there is a festival in the Pelican Town. It takes place from 9 Am till 2 PM, and the main feature of this celebration is gift-giving. Jas and Vincent can give you Clay as a gift! However, you may be happy to receive such a gift only in case you’re in a really bad need for Clay. As we wrote in our Stardew Valley gift guide, no one likes Clay as a gift. Most villagers dislike it, and some of them really hate it.
