Games Stardew Valley Fans Must Play
Stardew Valley is a great game, and there’s always so much to do and explore. But sometimes, you need to mix it up and try something new. Here are some games that Stardew Valley fans are sure to enjoy.
Doraemon Story of Seasons
This game is a combination of the Doraemon manga series and the Story of Seasons video game series. Story of Seasons, formerly known as Harvest Moon, inspired the creation of Stardew Valley. So this is one game that Stardew fans can’t pass up.
Released last year, Doraemon Story of Seasons features characters from the Doraemon series to play. You’ll be able to run a farm, take care of animals, go fishing, make friends, explore, and so much more. Visually, the game has a watercolor design that is both appealing and soothing. So if you want a change from pixelated visuals in your farming simulation, give Doraemon Story of Seasons a go.
Minecraft
Released in 2011, Minecraft is focused on creation, adventure, and exploration. You can create whatever your heart desires, such as a massive farm. Minecraft will allow you to go above and beyond other farming games in this regard because you’ll essentially only be limited by what you can think of.
Other Minecraft games that you might be interested in include Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Earth, and Minecraft Dungeons. Minecraft Earth is an AR game that was released in 2019 and Minecraft Dungeons is an upcoming fantasy game expected to be released this spring.
The Legend of Zelda: Living the Life of Luxury
If you love Stardew Valley’s pixelated design and visual nods to numerous ‘80s Game Boy games like The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, you must play Nintendo Switch’s rerelease of the original Legend of Zelda game, called The Legend of Zelda: Living the Life of Luxury. Like Stardew Valley, you’ll be able to explore Zelda’s world at your own pace and in your own way, and you’ll meet plenty of new people along the way.
If you want to go more old school with Zelda, consider dusting off your Game Boy or buying an old one on eBay. You can usually find games like The Legend of Zelda for super cheap, and it’ll offer you another way to play the classic games. Or, if you want a newer version, check out The Legend of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The Sims
The Sims series has been around for two decades, and it’s one of the most successful simulation games of all time. Now on The Sims 4, the game features incredible graphics, gameplay, and storylines. In the game you’ll create a family, build a home, make friends, and let them live out their lives, similar to Stardew Valley. With the addition of expansion packs like The Sims 4: Island Living and The Sims 4: Get to Work, you’ll be able to explore new places and try out new careers, too.
This series is also available for mobile in The Sims Mobile and The Sims FreePlay, and Stardew Valley fans might actually prefer these versions because they’re less fussy. Although they’re simplified versions of the official game, both feature great graphics and similar gameplay, allowing you to get married, have a family, get a job, and explore towns.
Kynseed
With Kynseed, you’ll immediately think of Stardew Valley in both visuals, gameplay, and general style. This world has fantastical elements, however. You’ll start the game with a magical acorn that will grow into your family tree. You’ll have a home, a farm, and a family, and you’ll be able to explore the town and run shops.
Like The Sims, your family and friends will grow old and die, and you’ll be able to live on (and play on) through the younger generations. Currently, the game is still in development. But you can play it on Steam Early Access instantly.
No matter which game you choose to play next, you’re sure to have fun!
